Billings adds Bronze, Brass

Talk about splash finishes; how about the plans for the final events of the 25th Anniversary Season of the CKG Billings Amateur Driving Series which will be showcased on Friday night at the Meadowlands? Peter Gerry, the president of the Delvin Miller Amateur Drivers Association which sponsors the Billings Series, said he has enough interest from the membership for two more concluding events for this special Silver Anniversary Season.

Unlike the previous years when the seven-month amateur driving competitions culminated with a Gold Cup and Silver Cup finals for the top seasonal point earners, this milestone year will also add a Bronze Cup and a Brass Cup.

“The Meadowlands has been wonderful in supporting the Billings Series finals over the years and they are willing to go an extra mile this year to help us celebrate 25 years of exciting amateur racing,” Gerry said. “Right now I have two fields of 12 horses for the Gold and Silver Cup finals, and I also have a field of 10 for the Bronze Cup and a field of nine for the Brass Cup final. However, I would like to get one more entry so the Bronze and Brass Cups can go with 10-horse fields.”

As of yet Gerry is not sure exactly when the races will be contested on Friday night card at the Big M but one thing is for sure that the Gold Cup final will be on the racing program.

The members of the Billings organization along with their families will gather that night at the Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands to celebrate the season and present the awards. (Billings)
