Birminghim heads to Sweden

European correspondent Lars G. Palm reports that the 4-year-old trotting mare Birminghim, who won her 2007 debut Monday at Pompano Park, is expected to head overseas to compete in the Queen's Trophy eliminations April 26 at the Aby-track in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Birminghim is owned by Torkil Pederson of Norway and trained by Harald Lunde, who won the King's Trophy at that same track a few years ago with Rotation. The Queen's and King's races are contested on the same cards, with the finals slated for May 5.

A daughter of Striking Sahbra, Birminghim won three Ontario Sire Stakes Gold finals at two, and then won just once last year in a Gold elimination in May. Her 1:57.2 score Monday increased her career earnings to $463,713.
