A late move on the inside by Biscuit, driven by Trace Tetrick, helped the duo reach the winner’s circle in the final of the Tubby Trimble Series at Hoosier Park Wednesday. The 5-year-old gelding received his first win by defeating the favored Blue Punch, guided by Shawn Christner.

Out of the gate, Blue Punch took control of the lead with Rowdy Rowdy, managed by Charles Conrad, and Biscuit fast approaching. At the quarter mile mark in :26.1, Blue Punch held onto the lead with Rowdy Rowdy and Biscuit staying close. The top three were pulling away from the field.

Reaching the halfway mark in a time of :56.3, Blue Punch still was the leader. Hoosier Alibi, driven by Ricky Macomber Jr., was looking to contend. Nearing the three-quarter mile mark, Hoosier Alibi passed Rowdy Rowdy and Biscuit to slide into second place looking to take control of first.

Down the stretch, Biscuit managed to find room on the inside. He was looking for the moment to challenge the leader. Nearing the finish, Biscuit edged out Blue Punch for the win by only a neck. Rowdy Rowdy finished in third.

“The lane opened up, and I was able to squeeze through,” Tetrick said. “He (Biscuit) was sharp enough to get the win.”

With the win, Biscuit has earned over $17,000 in his lifetime. Owned by Jerry and Betty Smith of Niles, Mich. and trained by Charles Clickner, the son of Storm Damage returned $19.80, $4.40, and $3.20 for his latest performance. (Hoosier Park)
