Blue-blooded yearling dies

The first foal of Cathedra Dot Com p,3, 1:51, a yearling filly by Artsplace, has died unexpectedly, one of the mare’s owners has confirmed.

Cathedra Dot Com, a daughter of Presidential Ball, earned $1.5 million on the racetrack and won 26 of 74 starts. She is presently owned by Mathias Meinzinger, TLP Stable, D’Elegance Stable IX and Jerry Silva. Meinzinger confirmed the death of the yearling filly, which was consigned to be sold in the first session at the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg this fall.

“I had seen her and she was a very, very nice filly,” said Murray Brown, vice president and general manager of the Standardbred Horse Sale.

Cathedra Dot Com’s dam is the prolific Cathedra, who has also produced the ill-fated pacing colt Western Shooter p,2, 1:50 ($904,462), The Preacher Pan p,4, 1:50 ($507,491) and Cabrini Hanover p,2, 1:51 ($1,303,790).

Cathedra Dot Com was bred to Western Hanover last year and Rocknroll Hanover in 2006.
