The date's not yet set, but Rainbow Blue will soon be bred to Western Hanover. Kevin and Ronald Fry and George and Brenda Teague, the owners of the 2004 Horse of the Year Rainbow Blue, have announced the mating for the recently retired mare.

Rainbow Blue's trainer, George Teague, said, "There are several high quality pacing stallions out there, but we felt that we should go to the best available for a mare of this caliber. Not only has Western Hanover proven to be a great sire year after year but also physically he is probably the horse that is most suited to Rainbow Blue. She is a big mare, and we were looking for a medium-size stallion that would best complement her. Of course, in addition to siring great horses, Western Hanover is renowned for siring great physical specimens."

Rainbow Blue is presently at Vieux Carre' Farms where she and her subsequent foal will reside.

Jim Simpson, president of Hanover Shoe Farms, the home of Western Hanover, said, "When you stand horses of the caliber of the ones with which we have been blessed, one sometimes becomes jaded by the quality of the mares booked to them. However, when we get as great a mare as Rainbow Blue booked to Western Hanover, we all take enormous pride in doing so."
