Blur wins Matron Filly

Breeders Crown champion Blur captured the $189,188 Matron for 3-Year-Old Filly Trotters, edging the pacesetting Flawless Bluestone and Ticket To Glide by a neck at the wire in 1:56.4 Thursday night at Dover Downs.



Flawless Bluestone, driven by David Miller, started from post eight and was fired away quickly from the gate. She took the lead after being stung a bit to the first quarter (:27.2) by Malvictorian, driven by Trond Smedshammer, also the trainer of Blur.



Flawless Bluestone had a bit of a breather to the half (:58) and continued on to the three-quarter mark in 1:27.2 before the challenges came from Blur and Ticket To Glide. All three fillies were within a neck at the wire.



Blur now has seven wins in 12 starts this seven and $867,453 in earnings for owner Barry Goldstein.



Flawless Bluestone picked up her eighth runner-up finish this season. She also finished a neck behind Blur in the Breeders Crown final. Her second-place check boosted her 2005 earnings above $500,000.
