Primetime Bobcat lowered the all-time world record with a 1:47.2 victory in the $50,000(C) Open Pace at Woodbine Saturday night. The time is the fastest ever paced in a race, lowering the mark set by Jenna's Beach Boy in 1996 at the Meadowlands by one-fifth of a second.
The 8-year-old gelding Primetime Bobcat was driven by Jody Jamiieson. The veteran pacer sat second behind the pacesetting Rair Earth through sizzling fractions of :25.1, :53.2 and 1:20.4 before pulling out of the pocket and posting a final quarter of :26.1 to go on to the victory.
Primetime Bobcat is trained by Anthony Montini, who shares ownership in the son of Abercrombie with William Rogers, Basil Michele and Joseph Rogers.
