Bouchard wins 5,000th

Stephane Bouchard got the 5,000th win of his harness racing career Tuesday when he drove Art Form to a one-length victory in the 11th race at Monticello Raceway.

A 39-year-old native of Montreal, Bouchard became the 52nd driver in North American harness racing history to reach the milestone.

Bouchard finished the day with four wins, giving him 5,001 lifetime. He was the U.S. Harness Writers Association’s Rising Star Award winner in 2000 after picking up 671 wins and $3.7 million in purses. In 2001, he was Harness Tracks of America’s Driver of the Year, notching 754 victories and $5 million.

He ranks 22nd in North America this year with 155 wins.
