The countdown has begun on supplements and entries for the U.S.$5 million Breeders Crown Events, to be raced Saturday, Oct. 24, at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. The $600,000 (guaranteed) Breeders Crown sophomore events carry a supplemental tag of $62,500 (US).
Supplemental declarations for the four 3-year-old events are due and payable on Monday, Oct. 12, by 12 noon in the racing secretary's office [905-854-7805] at Mohawk Racetrack. A one-time supplemental payment makes a horse eligible to subsequent years’ Breeders Crown events under the normal schedule of payments.
There are no supplements for the 2-year-old races.
The starting fee is included in the supplemental amounts, and all supplemental money, minus the starting fee, may be added to the purse of the individual events.
Horses eligible to the Breeders Crown events must enter by 10:30 am Tuesday, Oct. 13, also at the Mohawk race office. Eliminations for all 2-year-olds, if needed, will occur on Friday, Oct. 16. The 3-year-old eliminations, if needed, will be raced Saturday, Oct. 17, with a delayed post time of 8 pm.
The connections of elimination winners may pick their post position for the finals. The 3-year-old colt races will be drawn at the Breeders Crown press conference, hosted by former Houston Oiler and Toronto Argonaut Warren Moon, in Woodbine’s Trackside Tent at 12 noon, Tuesday, Oct. 20.
