Boycott of Balmoral box

Due to a lack of a sufficient number of entries, Balmoral Park has cancelled live racing for both Sunday, Jan. 1, and Tuesday, Jan. 3. Representatives of the track and the Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association (IHHA) met Wednesday, Dec. 28, but failed to reach an agreement.



The Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association website reminds its members, "IHHA does not endorse racing without a contract." The IHHA has scheduled a membership meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 3. However, no negotiating meeting between the tracks and IHHA has been scheduled at this time.



Balmoral Park, Maywood Park, and all of the intertrack and OTB parlors in Illinois will continue to be open for full-card simulcasting wagering on out-of-state racetracks throughout the day and night.
