Well Said and Ron Pierce came from off the pace with a strong stretch drive and captured $700,000 Breeders Crown 2-year-old colt and gelding pace in 1:51. Art Colony was second for Tim Tetrick while Dial Or Nodial was third for Dave Palone. Dial Or Nodial was the leader at the quarter in :27.1, then gave way to Major In Art who passed the half in :55.2 and the three quarters in 1:23 with Captain Sir and Jody Jamieson in a head-to-head duel. The duel took its tool in the lane as first Art Colony took the lead then Well Said rallied four wide to take the victory. “I was careful the whole race,” said Pierce, who calls the Western Hanover colt the fastest 2 year old he’s ever sat behind. “The colt has had some very bad luck, but he kinda showed everybody who he is tonight.” Trained by Steve Elliott for owners Jeffrey Snyder and Lothlorian, thevictory was his fourth in 12 starts and increased his earnings this year to $586,688.
