A field of 14 mares--boasting honors, accolades, world records and million-dollar bankrolls--will race Friday night to arrive at a field of 10 to contest the $363,000 Breeders Crown Mare Pace final, one of four open events scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1, at Mohawk Racetrack in Campbellville, Ont.
Two-time Breeders Crown champion My Little Dragon will look to join the legendary Eternal Camnation as the only female pacer to win three Crown titles. Competition comes in the form of 2006 Dan Patch honoree Darlin’s Delight, runner-up to My Little Dragon in their two previous Crown finals, Golden Girl winner Armbro Dancer as well as the fasted older mare in Canada, the $2 million winner Invitro.
Two supplemental entries, Free and Four Starzz Meliss, have also served notice of their intent to take Crown honors. The two elimination fields are listed below:
