Breeders Crown post positions set for 3 year olds

If Donato Hanover is to rebound from his second career loss in last week’s Breeder’s Crown elimination, he will have to do it from the 10 hole in the $610,000 final Saturday night at the Meadowlands.

The leading candidate for Horse of the Year drew the 10 hole Tuesday afternoon during the Breeders Crown draw and press conference at McLoones at Favorites in Fords, N.J.

Arch Madness, who handed Donato Hanover his first defeat of the year, will start from post two, which his connections selected following his elimination victory.

“Donato just got beat by a horse that was better that night—the post is just a starting point,” commented Donato Hanover’s trainer, Steve Elliott.

Trond Smedshammer, the trainer of Arch Madness said, “It was a lot to supplement him, but all of us agreed to supplement him.  He’s a gelding who hopefully will be a great aged trotter.  I don’t know if he can beat Donato again, but for winning future Breeders Crowns, I’d think his odds will be low.”
