Brett Miller suspended

Driver Brett Miller has been given a 20-day suspension by the Ohio State Racing Commission for a human drug positive test in August at Northfield Park for benzuylecgonine, which is a metabolite of cocaine. Miller, 32, has not driven since Oct. 15, in which he competed at Northfield despite having a broken left hand.



In late September Miller failed a breathalyzer test at the Delaware, Ohio, fairgrounds, which forced him to be taken off his mounts on Wednesday, Sept. 21, Jugette day. He then took himself off his mounts on Jug day on Thursday. Miller did not return to the sulky until Oct. 7, and then only through Oct. 15.



Miller's last drive that night was a second-place finish in the $130,500 Courageous Lady for 3-year-old filly pacers with Up Front Dragonfly. Harnessracing.com has been told Miller drove that night with a broken hand suffered away from the racetrack, which has been the reason he then went to the sidelines.



Miller currently stands 10th on the national dash list with 454 wins, with $2.9 million in purse earnings. He has 3,583 career victories and more than $17.9 million in earnings.
