Brickells named Pa. Owners of the Year

Ordinarily, this would be the time of year where owners who had success in their previous campaign would reminisce happily about the last year, and look forward to the next season, and Dave and Ronna Brickell certainly did have some success in 2007, with the multi-winning SB Quent�s Knight, DVC Dixie Cocktail, DVC Done Good, and JC Mik Mac Jillio, who set track records at Clearfield and York.

But with the victories came an ongoing tragedy: Ronna had a fatal illness (Lou Gehrig�s disease) that was slowly sapping her life throughout the summer months. Dave maintained the top stable on the fair circuit and a happy demeanor�an enormous credit to him as Ronna continually worsened and then finally passed away late in the summer, the knowledge of a successful barn and successful helpmate hopefully easing her final descent.

For their fortitude�and success�under the worst of situations last year, Dave and Ronna Brickell have been voted as Pennsylvania

�s Owners of the Year.

The Brickells have a foal of 2007 named Dreamin N Style�a typically optimistic name from the Brickell barn, with Dave carrying on in the memory and spirit of his late wife.

Dave and Ronna Brickell, and other stars of the past season in Pennsylvania racing, will be honored at the first annual �Celebration of Pennsylvania Harness Racing,� to be held Sunday, Feb. 10 at Harrah�s Chester racetrack near Philadelphia.
