Take the bloodlines of one of the greatest 2 and 3-year-old trotting fillies of all time, and combine that with a truly superior individual. The end result? The newest member of the Brittany Stallion Management roster--Master Glide!
It was announced today that Master Glide, the unraced full brother to 2 and 3-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year Passionate Glide 2,1:55.4; 3,1:52.2 ($1,726,847), will stand his first season at stud at the Brittany Farms headquarters in Versailles, Ky., at an introductory fee of $3,000. The ultra-promising 2007 two year old was never trained after having fractured his shoulder as a yearling.
“With his pedigree and looks, he would have had unlimited potential as a racehorse,” Brittany Farms’ general manager Art Zubrod said. “We’re pleased to be standing him here in Kentucky, where there’s a significant amount of money offered in the sire stakes with only a few trotting stallions here to take advantage of it,” he added.
Master Glide’s bloodlines speak for themselves, as he is by 2006’s leading money-winning trotting sire Yankee Glide and from Miss Marita, dam of the pair of Hambletonian Oaks winners Passionate Glide and Marita’s Victory 3,1:54 ($666,731), as well as Mr Vic 3,1:54.2 ($318,942), he in turn the sire of 2006’s Older Trotting Horse of the Year Sand Vic 1:51.2 ($1,868,952).
Passionate Glide’s trainer Jimmy Takter said Master Glide has the bloodlines and all the physical attributes of a great horse. “He was our top-rated yearling of all the yearlings we looked at last year, regardless of gait or sex. It was heartbreaking to see such a great yearling have an injury that would prevent him from training,” Takter said.
Master Glide’s first crop is most certain to include some great-bred individuals, as Brittany is backing its belief in his potential by breeding a number of its own top mares to him.
