Bronson Hall wins again

April 01, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The month of March was a good one for Bronson Hall as the 7-year-old pacer extended his winning streak to four on Saturday, taking a $10,000 winners-over pace at Pompano Park in 1:53.4 to close out an unbeaten month of racing in South Florida.

Driven from post six by his trainer Tom Harmer, Bronson Hall made the lead rather easily and took control of the race entering the first turn. The gelding moved through an opening quarter mile in :28.2 before reaching the half-mile pole in a comfortable :57.

As the field made its way down the backstretch, race favorite Golden Mattjesty (Mickey Mc Nichol) was flushed from the pocket by Lislight N (David Ingraham) and began a first-over bid, as Bronson Hall continued to show the way through a three-quarters split in 1:25.4.

Entering the stretch with a one-length advantage, Bronson Hall was tested down the lane as Golden Mattjesty continued to make up ground on the outside while Welu’s Dreamboat (Anthony Napolitano) and VP Power (Tom Sells) both came charging late.

With the finish line rapidly approaching, Bronson Hall dug in gamely to hold his lead through the wire, prevailing by a neck over Golden Mattjesty. Welu’s Dreamboat edged out VP Power for third.

Bronson Hall paid $22.40, $7.80, $5.00 for the victory. Golden Mattjesty brought in $2.60, $3.00 for second while Welu’s Dreamboat returned $4.60 to show.

Owned by Michael Polansky of Loudonville, N.Y., Bronson Hall has won five of nine starts this year, including four consecutive trips to the winner’s circle.

Despite that string of success, the son of Cambest continues to be ignored at the betting windows and has returned double-digit payouts in each of his wins this year.

Bronson Hall’s top payout of the season came on February 10 when the gelding returned $65.00 to win. He has since prevailed in a March 3 winners-over pace where he paid $22.40, a March 10 victory at the same level where he brought in $21.00, and a victory last week that returned $19.00.
