Brother to Onthewingsoflove wins King's Trophy in Sweden

Dust All Over, a 4-year-old son of Super Arnie-Pinafore Miss, the dam of US stakes winner Onthewingsoflove, won the King’s Trophy at the Aby track in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Friday night, with Adrian Chip, the runner-up in last year’s Hambletonian, finishing third in the race.

Artistic As (Malabar Man-Feeling Blue), who raced in the US as a 2 year old, left hard from post one for driver Johnny Takter and was joined by Harpers Joker and Dust All Over. Orjan Kilhlstrom slipped into the pocket with Dust All Over while Robert Bergh sent Adrian Chip to the lead and cleared before the first quarter.

Adrian Chip was followed by Artistic As, with Dust All Over third. But with a quarter left of the race Bergh had to go to work on Adrian Chip, and it appeared that the stallion’s tough elimination victory the previous week had taken a toll on him as he drifted to the outside of the track.

Unfortunately, Takter had opted to go outside as well with Artistic As, and a tired Adrian Chip bore out and caused Artistic As to go offstride. Takter later said he was poised to win the race.

With Adrian Chip and Artistic As out of the way, Kihlstrom, who is known as “the man in the box” by Swedish bettors, slipped up the inside with Dust All Over and won handily. Caesar Sanna finished second for Bjorn Goop while Adrian Chip crossed the wire third.

Dust All Over is trained by Roger Walmann, who also conditions the top trotters Giant Diablo and Surtees Hanover. Dust All Over covered the 2,140 meter distance in a mile rate time of 1:58.2.

Bjorn Damm bred Dust All Over and still owns his dam, Pinafore Miss, a daughter of Mystic Park whose granddam is Promissory, the dam of the great Florida Pro.
