Buck I St. Pat made it three in a row as she breezed to a 1:52.4 victory in the $25,000 first leg of the Miss Versatility Trotting Series on Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands. The 2008 Older Trotting Mare of the Year brushed to the lead at the half and responded when asked by driver Tim Tetrick in the stretch to hold off Falls For You by 2 1/4 lengths. Stage Show held third. Sent off as the 3-5 favorite in the 11-horse field, Buck I St. Pat paid $3 to win. Buck I St. Pat has won three of four starts since returning from a tendon injury last July that kept her on the sidelines for nearly nine months. Lifetime, she is 34 for 60, with earnings in excess of $1 million. Ron Burke trains the 6-year-old daughter of Jailhouse Jesse, who will head to Sweden's Solvalla Racetrack later this month to compete in the prestigious Elitlopp. Ron Fuller, Howard Taylor, Edwin Gold and Abe Basen share ownership of the mare. The Miss Versatility Series has subsequent legs at Tioga and Vernon Downs, and will culminate in a $100,000 (est.) final at the Delaware, Ohio Fairgrounds in September. (Meadowlands)
