Buck I St. Pat added the $111,000 Ms. Versatility final to her stellar resume Thursday afternoon at the Delaware, Ohio, fairgrounds, trotting to a national season's best 1:55.2 victory for driver Tim Tetrick.
Tetrick got away third with Buck I St. Pat before moving to the lead shortly after the leading Autumn Escapade and driver David Miller tripped the first-quarter timer in :28.4. Buck I St Pat reached the half in :57.4 as John Campbell began to work his way up first-over with Classic Lane. Buck I St. Pat hit the three quarters in 1:26.4 and then needed all of a last quarter of :28.3 to hold off Classic Lane. Autumn Escapade held for third.
The win was the eighth of the year in 14 starts and third straight, a streak that began with a wi in the Breeders Crown final for older trotting mares. A 6-year-old daughter of Jailhouse Jesse, Buck I St. Pat is trained by Ron Burke for owners Howard Taylor, Ed Gold, Abraham Basen and Ron Fuller. Her season earnings now stand at more than $350,000, with a career bankroll in excess of $1.35 million.
