Pennsylvania legislators and Governor Ed Rendell reached an agreement late Monday night on a budget, which means 25,000 state workers who had a forced one-day furlough from their jobs on Monday will be able to return to work.
Slot operations at the state's racetracks had been put in jeopardy by the budget impasse, but a judge granted a one-day reprieve until a scheduled hearing on Tuesday to determine if they could remain open. Obviously that hearing is no longer needed and slot operations can remain as is.
