Stables wishing to come out to Cal-Expo and race now have an added enticement as Cal-Expo & the California Harness Horsemen's Association (CHHA) have announced their fall meet incentive programs, totaling $150,000.
Cal-Expo, in concert with the CHHA, have agreed to offer purse incentive programs for horses competing at Cal-Expo during the Fall meet beginning August 13, 2010.
"We've spent a lot of time discussing these programs,” said Dave Elliott, Director of Racing at Cal-Expo. “We are hopeful that they are met with enthusiasm by the horsemen who have stayed in California, those who went to race elsewhere during the break, and for those "first time starter trainers" who wish to give Cal-Expo a try in the Fall." "We are offering a maximum of $850 as a "New Horse" incentive purse to horsemen who wish to race at Cal Expo,” finished Elliott. All horses wishing to participate in the programs must be approved, before shipping, by Racing Secretary, Fred Kuebler.
