Red-hot Corey Callahan continued a win-happy January, driving six winners on Tuesday at Dover Downs. Also, Four Starz Q, with Ross Wolfenden up, scored an early 1:52.2 victory in the $20,000 male claiming pace over a "good” track.
After five winners on Sunday and four more on Monday, Callahan built his North American leading total to 43 wins since the New Year arrived.
Meanwhile, in the feature race, Four Starz Q, owned by John Emmons and trainer Eric Ell, rolled to an easy 2-length win. Wolfenden drove the Cam's Card Shark-Search The Road gelding to his first victory in two starts this year. Sir Globalop Z Tam (Jim Morand) was second with Grab The Fortune (Vic Kirby) taking third.
Callahan swept both ends of the daily double, driving Justin Brenneman's Oreti Beach N (1:55.4) in the first and trotter Moonlight Casanova (1:59.2), owned by Niel Gargiulo, Louie Pagliaroni and Legacy Racing of DE in the second. Another trotter, Colleen Chambers Racing's Coco Count (1:58.2), won the fifth race.
Callahan then struck with a second Justin Brenneman-trainee,Wesmokempeacepipe (1:54.4), Dave Coar and trainer Keith Jackson's PT Storm (1:53.3) and father Nick Callahan's Sound The Belle (1:57.4) to win the 11th,12th and 13th races in sucession. Callahan, who dominates the Dover Downs standings, has now won 43 races this month including 15 races since last Sunday to lead all drivers in North America with 43 wins in 2013. (Dover)
