Cam Fella final set for Saturday at Woodbine

He did everything he needed to in Alberta, so the owners of Sixdaysontheroad, a live contender in Saturday�s $80,000 Cam Fella Stakes final, sent him to local trainer Gord Remmen to chase after the rich Woodbine purses.

Clearly, that decision has paid off. "He�s made quite a bit of money already this year," said Remmen, who has 12 horses based at Mohawk. "The owners think every race is a stakes race."

Albertans Walter Moroz of Edmonton and Willie Wychopen of St. Paul have earned $78,060 through Sixdaysontheroad and his five wins, including a score in the first leg of the Cam Fella series, so far at Woodbine this year with much more likely to come.

"He wouldn�t have had the opportunity to make that kind of money in Alberta at the present time," Remmen said. "There�s a little winter meet in Edmonton, but it�s back to "B" meets all summer. They sent him here. We go for such good money."

Remmen said his Allamerican Native 4-year-old is in good form, but needs a rebound from his third-place finish in the second leg last time out.

"Last week was a little bit disappointing, but I can give anyone the benefit of the doubt from that night. It was just brutal. The track was hard, which it would have to be with the pouring rain and screening of the track," he explained. "He trained well (Thursday morning); I think he�s pretty good right now. If he runs back to any of those first four races (at Woodbine, all wins), he�ll be good."

Paul MacDonell will be back in the bike for Sixdaysontheroad, the 3-1 second choice, after Jack Moiseyev drove last week.

It is wide open edition of the Cam Fella, with several horses having chances to earn black type.

Greystone Cash is the 5-2 morning line choice off the win in the second leg last week for Randy Waples and trainer Bruce Goit. Remmen fears him the most of his rivals. "The horse that one last week raced really well. With (Mr Coolie) losing though, it made this race wide open. There are a few more contenders."

Mr Coolie, who nailed down the Ontario Boys for Doug McNair and trainer Gregg McNair in late February, is the 4-1 third choice.
