Great Expense and Crombes Last Laugh captured their respective $35,000 ( C ) divisions in the opening leg of the Cam Fella Pacing Series for 4 year olds at Woodbine Saturday night.

Great Expense and Mark MacDonald sat a pocket trip behind Ponder and Jack Moiseyev before tipping in the lane and going on to a 1 1/4-length victory in 1:52.3. Apache Limo and Tony Kerwood were third.

The winner is a son of Rustler Hanover trained by Colin Johnson for owner Randy Zane. This was the first start in more than a month for Great Expense after capturing the Clyde Hirt Series final at the Meadowlands.

In the second division, Crombes Last Laugh was parked second to the opening quarter and then the gelded son of Abercrombie went on to the lead and was never headed. MacDonald was also in the bike as Crombes Last Laugh held off Galatine Hanover and Mike Saftic by three-quarters of a length at the wire while Finnegan Hanover and Luc Ouellette were third.

Brett Robinson trains the winner for Canamerica Capital Corp., Stephen Scarff and John Fielding.
