Campbell leaves Siegels

Trainer Jim Campbell told The Horseman Monday morning that he parted ways over the weekend with owners Jules and Arlene Siegel and will open up his own public stable at White Birch Farm in New Jersey, conditioning both racehorses and yearlings.

Campbell has trained horses for the Siegels for 10 years, winning several major stakes events including 1995 Hambletonian with Tagliabue. Other top Campbell-trained horses include Galleria, Broadway Hall, Whatanartist, Armbro Animate, Upalazyriver and Ice Sculpture.

"I've had a couple of people ask me to look at yearlings for them," said Campbell, who is in Lexington for racing and the sales this week. "People can call me at (732) 598-2770 if they are interested."

Assuming the training duties for the Siegels will be 25-year-old Travis Alexander, a native of Michigan who has been working as Campbell's assistant.
