Drivers John Campbell and David Miller cleaned up in a quintet of stakes races for 2-year-old fillies on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands, and one of Campbell's winners included Honorable Daughter in the Acorn, who slipped free and held off Celebrity Blueyes, who reared up and dumped her driver in the pre-race score, but rallied for second at odds of 89-1.
Campbell piloted Melissa’s Fancy and Twist N Clout to victories in a pair of $30,000 Debutante divisions for pacers, then was back in the winner’s circle with Honorable Daughter in the $44,000 Acorn for trotters. Campbell hustled Melissa’s Fancy [$9.40] home to best 3-2 favorite Nikajah by a head in 1:54.1 in the first Debutante split, race three. Eddie Dennis trains the daughter of Blissfull Hall for owner/breeder Lawrence Smith of Collegeville, PA. In the second division, race five, Campbell steered Twist N Clout [$7.60] to an impressive 4-1/2-length romp in 1:55.4 for trainer Joe Holloway. Val D’or Farms purchased the daughter of Western Ideal for $40,000 as a yearling. Campbell sent Honorable Daughter [$8.00] to the lead at the start, but she couldn't clear in the :29 first panel, but then settled in second when Mike Lachance swept to the lead with No Ifs Here. When No Ifs Here tired in the homestretch, Honorable Daughter trotted up to win in 1:58.3, giving Campbell the stakes hat trick and his fourth winner of the night.
Trained by Larry Remmen, Honorable Daughter is a Malabar Man filly who was a $32,000 yearling purchase by Paolo Rosanelli and John Siena of Middletown, NY.
David Miller and Market Dynamics [$16.20] upset Campbell and 4-5 favorite All Or None in the third Debutante division, race six. Market Dynamics, trained by Bill Popfinger, won her career debut in 1:55.2. Popfinger and Alan Wolnek of Lighthouse Point, FL bought the daughter of Pro Bono Best for a bargain $5,500 at the New Jersey Classic Sale.
Miller produced the biggest payoff of the night when he rallied 16-1 Seaside [$34.60] to a 1:59 win in the first Acorn split, race four. Jonas Czernyson trains the Yankee Glide lass for Thomas Dillon of Anson, ME. (Meadowlands)
