Campbell on Took Hanover

Return Home
August 29, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

John Campbell has said he will drive Took Hanover, the beaten favorite in the Cane Pace elimination last Saturday afternoon at Freehold, in the Labor Day final and opt off Feelin Friskie, who had received a bye and did not compete in the elim.

"I’ve had success with Feelin Friskie and when he’s right, he’s a very good horse," Campbell told Harness Racing Communications. "I was very happy with Took Hanover’s race. He paced strong through the stretch and I think he’s going into the final very sharp. I just hope we get lucky at the draw. Post position can be an equalizer on a small track.

"He had some things to get ironed out (earlier in the year) and needed to focus on what he should be doing out there," Campbell added. "Once he did, he’s raced very well. Time will tell how good he can be; he’ll tell us. I think he’ll be in contention for the 3-year-old stakes the rest of the year."
