A Cantab Hall half brother to the accomplished filly Passionate Glide topped the second night of the Lexington Selected Sale at $350,000, bringing a bid of $350,000 from trainer Erv Miller, who was acting as agent on behalf of John Carver. Carver has raced many horses over the years, including the top pacing mare Anniecrombie.
The $350,000 bid is also the highest at the sale thus far. The colt, a March 15 foal who is an embryo transfer, was bred by Brittany Farms. He is out of the prolific Miss Marita, who is also the dam of Marita's Victory and Mr. Vic.
Like opening night, the second session of the sale attracted a large crowd and there was plenty of bidding. Another 29 yearlings brought bids of $100,000 or more, bringing the total of six-figure yearlings sold to 68.
A total of 142 yearlings were sold in the second session for an average price of $68,915, up 11 percent from last year's second session average of $46,122.
