The 2003 Trotter of the Year and undefeated 2 year old Cantab Hall 2,1:56, 3,1:54 has been retired and will begin his stud career at Hanover Shoe Farms beginning with the 2005 breeding season. A winner of $1,442,303 in two racing seasons, Cantab Hall ended his career as he began with an easy two-length win in the $250,000 American National at Balmoral Park on November 6th.

Cantab Hall was a $310,000 yearling, topping all yearling prices in 2001. He is the son of Self Possessed and is the first foal of the multiple stakes winning filly Canland Hall 2,1:59.3f, 3,1:57 a winner of $339,143 herself, a full sister to Cameron Hall 2,1:56, 3,1:54.2, 1:53.4 ($1,816,236).

Cantab Hall will stand at the Hanover's Pennsylvania farm for an introductory service fee of $12,000. His foals will be eligible to the newly enhanced Pennsylvania Sires Stakes. Only a limited number of shares will be available since Hanover will be buying a significant interest in the stallion and his present owners Brittany Farms and Lindy Farms intend to utilize all of their breeding rights. Among the mares already committed to him this season include Moni Maker.
