Capital Advisor visited the winner’s circle for the second time in his last three starts when taking the featured $15,000 Open Pace at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway on Sunday in 1:53. Driven from post three by trainer Jay Randall, Capital Advisor was content to settle in third place as Ruffled Tux (John Stark Jr.) took the field through an opening quarter mile in a brisk :26.4. As the field made its initial journey by the grandstand, Capital Advisor was moved off the pylons to attack first over, advancing steadily on Ruffled Tux as that one reached the half-mile marker in :55.3. Capital Advisor wrestled the lead away from Ruffled Tux through a three-quarter split in 1:23.3, sprinting clear of his rivals on the final turn to enter the stretch with a five-length advantage before coasting home unchallenged to prevail by two lengths at the wire. Capital Advisor returned $16.80, $5.70, and $6.10 for the victory. Life Sizzles (Dan Daley) brought in $16.60 and $7.00 when finishing second, while Wealth of Nations (Frank Coppola Jr.) paid $12.40 for third. Owned by Thomas Finelli and Jay and Dawn Randall, Capital Advisor is a three-time winner from nine starts this year with a seasonal bankroll of $24,845 and lifetime earnings in excess of $154,000.
