Myron Bell, the racing manager of the outstanding pacing colt Captaintreacherous and Jim Simpson, President of Hanover Shoe Farms today announced that an agreement has been reached for the great son of Somebeachsomewhere to stand at stud at Harness Racing's greatest breeding farm beginning with the season of 2015.
Present plans call for "The Captain" to continue racing for the duration of 2013 and through the entire racing season of 2014.
Voted as the Pacer of the year in 2012 and now one of the leading candidates for horse of the year 2013, Captaintreacherous was bred, raised and sold as a yearling by Michael Parisi's White Birch Farms. Myron Bell purchased him at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale in 2011 for a winning bid of $250,000. Bell was acting on behalf of a group of owners which included Brittany Farms, Joe Sbrocco, Marvin Katz and Michael Parisi. Some shares in the pacer were sold to a group of prominent breeders between his two and three year old racing season.
The colt has been trained by Tony Alagna, driven by Tim Tetrick and superbly managed by Myron Bell throughout hisillustriousracing career. The Captain will continue to race under his present ownership and management group "Captaintreacherous Racing" until he begins his stud career.
Bell said "Its the dream of a lifetime to stand a stallion at Harness Racing's greatest and most historically important breeding farm". "He's a great horse and deserves to be at Hanover". Jim Simpson said "We couldn't beprouder to stand this colt alongside his great and most accomplished sire. We look forward to seeing The Captain continue to race at the highest level possible and then await the beginning of his second stage in life at Hanover." (Hanover Shoe Farms)
