According to entries for Friday posted on the United States Trotting Association web site, Walter Case Jr. is programmed to drive five horses at Plainridge Race Course in Massachusetts. Although he is down to drive, Case must make an application to the Massachusetts Racing Commission for a license, according to Plainridge general manager Steve O'Toole. O'Toole noted that Case has expressed optimism that a license will be granted.
On June 22, 2004, while living in Ohio, Case was arrested and subsequently convicted for stabbing his estranged wife with a steak knife. Case served time in an Ohio state prison for felonious assault.
A native of Maine, Case was rumored to be applying for licenses in various states, but the entries from Plainridge mark the first time he has been listed to drive.
