Cashall, yes Cashall, wins

Cashall won his first race of the year at Dover Downs Thursday night--no, not that Cash Hall, who trotted that world-record 1:51.1 time trial at Delaware, Ohio last year--but a 4-year-old gelding who hails from the same family.

Kevin Sizer directed Cashall to Thursday night's 1:59.3 win in an $8,500 conditioned trot at Dover, the first win of the year in eight starts for the son of Enjoy Lavec. Cashall's dam, Bloodstock's Chat, is a half sister to outstanding trotters Cartier Hall 1:54.3 ($363,106), Capetown Hall 2, 1:56.1f ($369,518) and the aforementioned world champ Cash Hall T1:51.1 ($554,298).

Sizer also trains Cashall, who won twice last year at two, including a career-best 1:58.3 effort at Pocono Downs. Overall, Cashall has $16,271 in earnings for owners Ken Wood and Quad Farms. Quad Farms purchased Cashall from his Italian breeder early his 2-year-old year, later selling an interest to Wood and another partner who has since opted out.
