Caviart Kiss became the fastest 2 year old of the season when she rebuffed challengers to win a qualifier in 2:01.3 at Scioto Downs on Wednesday morning. The daughter of The Panderosa is out of Before Sunrise p,2,1:53 ($416,252) and is trained by Jim Arledge Jr. for Caviart Farm of Virginia. Driver Dean Glispie sent her to the front at the start of the race and eased her to the half-mile marker in 1:01.3. When pressure began to mount from stablemates Slice Of Life (Jate Lobell) and Sand Windsor (Real Desire), Glispie turned his filly loose and she paced her final half in 1:00 to win in 2:01.3, fastest mile by a freshman in 2009. Slice Of Life held for second while Sand Windsor got third after making a bold move in the final three-eighths of the mile. (Scioto Downs)
