Celebrity Tribute took full advantage of the pocket trip after the race favorite went off stride to her outside before the quarter in the C$50,000 Elegantimage Stakes Consolation for three-year-old trotting fillies Friday at Mohawk. Mario Baillargeon drove the Staffan Lind trainee who led the field at every race call after the quarter to win by five lengths in 1:56.2. Locksweeper briefly held the lead before sitting in the two hole after a :28.2 opening quarter. Delphic (Rick Zeron) got away fourth and pulled at the half to come first up and finish second. World Premier (Trevor Ritchie) followed that cover and coasted to a third place finish, just a half-length off Delphic. Celebrity Tribute, by Yankee Glide out of the American Winner mare Winning Tribute, is owned by Celebrity Farms of New York, NY. Friday’s mile marked a new lifetime best for the winner of over $85,000 as a two-year-old. Celebrity Tribute now has career earnings over $113,000.
