Chalks rule in OSS Finals

Favorites ruled in Saturday night's Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final night at Woodbine Racetrack as seven of the bettor's choices came up victorious in the eight contests. Ironically, only a horse named Fan Favourite spoiled the chalk parade when she won the opening $300,000 contest for 2-year-old filly trotters as the 5-1 fourth choice.



Driven by Luc Ouellette, Fan Favourite broke her maiden in her eighth career start with her 1:59.2 effort. Gaelic finished second with Maleficent third.



Owned by Joie De Vie Farm, the winning daughter ofr Angus Hall is trained by Paul Buer.



The remaining seven $300,000 finals went to the favorites, with the streak started off by Classic Lavec's wire-to-wire score in 1:57.3 in the race for 2-year-old colt trotters.



Paul MacDonell drove Classic Lavec to the 2 1/2-length score over Feeling Frazzled and Mill Work. A son of Mr. Lavec, Classic Lavec is trained by Albert White for owner Stanley Malec.



Lady Dillinger crushed her competition by more than six lengths as Mario Baillargeon directed the daughter of DM Dilinger to a career-best 1:52.3 victory in the Super Final for 2-year-old filly pacers. Claires Apache was second with Pacific Supreme third.



The win was the third straight and sixth overall in 13 starts for Lady Dillinger, who is owned by Gaetan Hebert and trained by Nat Varty.



Isle Of Patmos notched a career-best 1:51.4 victory in teh Super Final for freshman colt pacers. Driven by Ouellette, Isle Of Patmos downs runner-up Silent Swing, with Pacific Admiral third.



Mark Capone trains the winning son of Astreos for owners David Scharf, Jerry Silva and Sampson Street Stables.



Peaceful Way overcame the outside nine post to win the Super Final for 3-year-old filly trotters in 1:54, posting a final quarter of :26.2 to seal the decision. Bliss was five lengths back in second and McCall Magic took third.



Driven by Chris Christoforou, Peaceful Way is trained by Dave Tingley, who co-owns the daughter of Angus Hall with Goin My Stable and breeder Angie Stiller. The win was her 11th in 15 starts this year.



Cincinnati Kid trotted his mile in 1:55 to win the Super Final for 3-year-old colts. Driven by Trevor Ritchie, Cincinnati Kid bested Loose Change Louie and Coventry.



A son of Angus Hall, Cincinnati Kid is trained by Harald Lunde for owner Fred Monteleone. The Breeders Crown runner-up won for the third time in 12 starts this year.



The Super Final for 3-year-old filly pacers went to another Breeders Crown runner-up: Invitro. The daughter of Camluck was driven to the 1:52.1 victory by MacDonell. A And Gs Rockette was second with Taylor Lynne third.



Trained by Gordon Irwin, Invitro is owned by Irwin Stables and MMR Stables. She is now a 12-time winner in 18 starts this year.



Geartogear wrapped up the night and the chalk parade with a 1:50.4 victory in the Super Final for sophomore colt pacers. Kevin Wallis was in the sulky behind the son of Grinfromeartoear as he defeated Galantine Hanover and Pokagon.



Trained by Varty for owner Perfect World Enterprises, Geartogear won for the 10th time in 19 starts this year.
