Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG), which last year ordered trainer Casie Coleman to race out of detention barns at Woodbine and Mohawk, has decided to modify its stance, issuing the following: After a significant period of time, and number of starts, Woodbine Entertainment Group today modified its retention policy with respect to trainer Casie Coleman. Coleman-trained horses that had been racing at Woodbine during the past four months will no longer be designated to retention. "We will continue to gauge the consistency of the performance of her horses going forward," said Jamie Martin, WEG senior vice-president of racing. "Retention barn designations will continue to be a tool we will use as required. Recently, she also agreed to allow WEG personnel access to her off-track stabling operations. That access will also assist us to address specific performance concerns as brought to us by the betting public." The change takes effect this Monday night, April 23. (WEG)
