Trainer-driver Charlie Norris was injured when he was unseated in a four-horse, chain-reaction accident in the 10th race of Wednesday's card at The Meadows. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
John Marshall, general manager of Meadows Racing, said the initial diagnosis is a muscle tear in the shoulder/collarbone area. He said Norris is resting at home and scheduled to see a physician Thursday for further evaluation.
None of the other drivers involved--Brian Zendt, Ed McNeight Jr. or Fred Uber Jr.--appeared to sustain injuries.
In 2003, Norris, 44, suffered a compound fracture of the left ankle when a yearling he was jogging careened head-on into a light standard in a morning workout at The Meadows. (The Meadows)
