Ron Pierce gunned Chloes Silver Star to a 1:52.2 victory in the $26,000 Mares Open/Handicap pace at Dover Downs on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
One of the most consistent female pacers at the track last meet, Chloes Silver Star, owned by Gary Evans and Foulk Stables, picked right up in the distaff feature. Race favorite Still Electric (Corey Callahan) made her first appearance of the meet and led from the start until approaching the three-quarter mark when Pierce rushed up and quickly were past and then opened up with a :27.4 final panel for Chloes Silver Star, a five-year-old Intrepid Seelster-Silver Chloe mare, for her eighth win of the year. She now has won $190,000 this year.
A four-race win streak by Perfect M Forever came to an end when the Eric Goodell driven four-year-old closed from off-the-pace to finish second. Apache Dame and Ross Wolfenden took show honors.
Lady Mach was at the top of her game in the $22,000 Mares Jr. Open as Eric Goodell guided the Mach Three-St George Lady five-year-old to an impressive 1:52.4 score. Itz Cherry Ripe N was second best for George Dennis. Firiel Hanover teamed with Montrell Teague to finish third. Dave Kryway, Dave Rovine and Meadowbranch Stables own the winner now a 146,491 in 2009.
Ross Wolfenden steered Donttellmewhattodo home in 1:53.2 to up the DM Dillinger-Murder Of One six-year-old into the six figures column this year. Darryl Gombert, Jeff Rose and Hankook Stable own the seven-time winner of $107,457 this campaign. Hopefull N (Jim Morand) was runner-up. Docdor Cam (Daryl Bier) was the third finisher.
In a $13,000 Mares pace, Esther Bier's Riley Rose show her class in the stretch with Sean Bier in the bike. The Real Artist-Bad Girl Joyce six-year-old out-gamed a determined bid from Raging Character (Vince Copeland) through the lane. Dasher On Attack (Ross Wolfenden) was third.
Jobo Da'Shabra sped to a 1:55.4 victory in one of two $12,500 feature trots on the card. It was Ross Wolfenden's fourth winner of the night and second win for trainer Charles Cochran. Black Tie (George Dennis) was right behind in second with Letmetellusmthin (Eddie Davis Jr.).
Bob Shahan guided Jeff Marsh and Cindy Issel's Grand Photo to a 1:57.1 victory in the other $12,500 trot. bCopper Harbor (Carlo Poliseno) and Mignon (Ron Pierce) were second and third respectively.
In addition to Wolfenden's four wins, Corey Callahan had a triple and Ron Pierce a double. (Dover Downs)
