Civil Attack, who had been knocking on the door regularly, broke down that barrier Monday at The Meadows when he captured the $25,000 Preferred Handicap pace. Over his last eight races entering Monday’s action, Civil Attack finished no worse than fourth while taking on the top pacers at The Meadows, Buffalo Raceway and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. While he enjoyed two victories in that stretch, he was forced more often to settle for minor awards despite racing well. On Monday, Dave Palone hustled the 6-year-old son of On The Attack-Civil Disobedience to the pocket, where he waited patiently for room. He blew past Rock N Roll Star in the stretch, scoring in 1:52.3 over a sloppy track. Pacey Deucey found late racing room to be second by three-quarter lengths, while Rock N Roll Star saved show. Ron Burke trains Civil Attack for Burke Racing Stable, Louis Starr Jr. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The win was one of five on the 15-race card for Palone, a performance that vaulted him past 13,000 career victories. (The Meadows)
