Clash of the Titans: Part 3

Return Home
April 13, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The “Clash of the Titans: Part 3” debuts Friday night at the Meadowlands, with Enough Talk and Lucky Jim, the past two Older Trotters of the Year, respectively, renewing their rivalry in the $125,000 final of the Su Mac Lad Series. Lucky Jim won the opening leg in 1:52.1 with Enough Talk second, but the two switched places in the second round with Enough Talk scoring in 1:52.4.

Just like last week’s second Su Mac Lad leg, Enough Talk drew post one for the final. And, just like last week’s second Su Mac Lad leg, Lucky Jim drew post seven for the final. Driver Ron Pierce took full advantage of post one in the second round as he rated Enough Talk on top through mild fractions with Lucky Jim sitting second, before turning up the heat with a final quarter of :26.4. Enough Talk needed every bit of that last quarter as he held off the late bid by Lucky Jim by just a head.

Arch Madness, who finished third in the second leg of the Su Mac Lad after being parked first-over from the half, could make things interesting for the two divisional champions as he drew post two for the final. Also, trainer Trond Smedshammer, who had been in the sulky behind Arch Madness, turns the lines over to the Big M driving champion Brian Sears for Friday’s rich contest.

Here is the complete field for the $125,000 Su Mac Lad final, scheduled as the 5th race:

1--Enough Talk (Ron Pierce)
2--Arch Madness (Brian Sears)
3--Big Boy Lloyd (Yannick Gingras)
4-- Likeabatoutahell (George Brennan)
5--In Focus (Daniel Dube)
6--Wind Surfer (George Brennan)
7--Lucky Jim (Andy Miller)
