Clerk Magistrate draws off to 1:54 win in Goodtimes

Clerk Magistrate endured a long overland trip to the head of the stretch, then drew off  and handily captured the $279,786 Goodtimes final for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters  in 1:54 Saturday night at Mohawk

B Strike Three and Rick Zeron took the field through a pedestrian opening quarter of :29 before Trevor Ritchie tipped Clerk Magistrate from fourth along the pylons to challenge the leader at the :57.2 half. The two colts went stride for stride around the far turn, passed the three quarters in 1:25 before Clerk Magistrate began pulling away.

Define The World crossed the finish line second, but was set back to fifth for going off stride. Placed second was Guida Muscle with B Strike Three placed third.

Owned by Asa Farm of Norwood, Ont., and trained by Per Henriksen, Clerk Magistrate, a son of Andover Hall and the Lindy Lane mare Weather Bird, scored his fourth win of the year in eight starts.
