According to reports, Hall of Famer Clint Galbraith suffered a head injury on Sunday night, May 16, when he was unloading a horse at Rodney Farms.
Galbraith's wife, Barbara, told ustrotting.com that her husband was unloading the homebred pacer Kashability when the horse became startled and turned quickly into the 72-year-old horseman, bumping him and knocking him backward. Galbraith was knocked unconscious when he hit his head.
Galbraith was taken to Strong Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., where he was placed in an induced coma. Throughout the week he has been awakened every hour to a semi-conscious state and asked to move his fingers and toes, but has been lucid and conscious since Thursday.
“He’s recuperating well and we thank all the horsemen for their support,” said Barbara Galbraith. “My son and daughter have mega-chipped-in and everybody has really come to bat for the man.” Galbraith and his wife currently train 25 head at their Rodney Farms in New York. On Sunday, Kashability had just paced to a lifetime-best 1:52.2 at Tioga Downs before the accident. (ustrotting.com)
