Clock strikes 11 a.m. again at Pompano

Eleven AM tallied his second consecutive victory at Pompano Park on Saturday to remain atop the local aged pacing division, capturing the featured $14,000 Open Handicap Pace at the South Florida oval in 1:51.2.

Guided from post five by Bruce Ranger, Eleven AM settled briefly in fourth place through the opening stages of the Saturday feature as Sandstorm N (Daryl Bier) outfought Pocket Driver N (Richard Macomber Jr.) to take early command of the race, showing the way through an opening quarter mile in :27.1.

As the pacers moved by the grandstand for the first time, Pocket Driver N overtook Sandstorm N to claim the top spot. Sensing it was time to make his move, Ranger angled Eleven AM off the pylons to begin a methodical first-over march, slowly grinding away at the new leader as that one took the field through middle fractions of :55.3 and 1:23.1.

Eleven AM wrestled the lead away from Pocket Driver N  on the final turn and  entered the stretch with a one-length advantage, holding sway through the wire to score by a half-length over a fast closing JJ’s Gazette (Andy Santeramo).

Owned by the Berry Stables of Staten Island, N.Y., and trained by Ranger, Eleven AM has prevailed in 12 of 26 starts this year, while hitting the board in 21 of those outings.

The son of Falcon Seelster, out of the Royal Command C mare Imustbedreamin, now boasts a seasonal bankroll in excess of $92,000, with lifetime earnings of $418,993. (Pompano Park)
