Clyde Hirt, Complex splits contested

In the first division of the second leg of the $18,000 Clyde Hirt Stakes, it was Rocknroll Band that demanded the lead in a late rally down the stretch on Friday night at the Meadowlands.

With David Miller in tow, Rocknroll Band gained his second win of 2009 in 1:52.3. Major General was a half-length back in second and Allamerican Major was another half-length behind for third. Rocknroll Band paid $4.60 in the night’s fourth race.

Trained by Ken Rucker, the 4-year-old son of Mattnamaras Band-Sleep Talk has advanced his career earnings to more than $100,000 for the Engel Stable.

Wildridge Sam ($8.60) was victorious in the first division of the second leg of the $20,000 Complex in 1:54.1. Grab Your Keys was second and Thunder Cruise finished third.

In the second division of the $18,000 Clyde Hirt Stakes, Camshaft Hanover ($30.80) seized the win in 1:51.1. Not Quite Forty was 2 1/2 lengths back in second and it was another 2 1/2 lengths back to Major Hottie.

In the second division of the $20,000 Complex Series it was Allamerican Idol ($4.20) prevailing in 1:51.3. Lookout Hanover was a close second, just three-quarters of a length behind, while Prize Art was third.

Frankyluvsmeatbals ($9.20) finished up the final race of the night and the third division of the Clyde Hirt Series in 1:52.4.  Scottery Tickets finished second and General McArdle was third.

The Clyde Hirt Series concludes Saturday, Jan. 24 with an $80,000 final. The Complex Series also concludes Jan. 24 with a $75,000 final. (Meadowlands)
