The driver and trainer races are both still in play with just one day of live racing to go at the Colonial Downs harness meet as Chris Page leads the driver race by two wins and Manley Brown Jr. clings to a two-win lead in the trainer standings. Page picked up one win Tuesday night, with Four Starz Eye Van in race nine, to improve his total to 48 through the first 33 days. Sean Bier piloted two winners to move to within two and set up a compelling final day chase. Page and Bier both have 10 drives on Wednesday’s 11-race card. Both are sitting out race one but are scheduled to compete in all other races. Neither appears to have a significant edge on Wednesday as each will have two morning line favorites and several other live contenders on the final card. Defending champion driver Dave Ingraham is in third with 33 winners. Brown has that two-race cushion in his attempt at back-to-back training titles but has not entered a single horse on closing night. Brown will finish the season with 21 wins from 208 starts. Don Harmon moved into prime position with two training wins on the Tuesday night card to improve his total to 19. Roland C. Dunavant Jr. is in third with 18 wins through 33 days. Harmon and Dunavant both have horses in four races Wednesday.
Harmon has 5-2 morning line choice Katkin in race one but his other three are all double-digit early odds.
Dunavant has two morning line favorites with the entry of Royal Photo and Dusty Winner in race six and Tom Bruce is the early choice in race eight. (Colonial Downs)
