Post position eight couldn’t stop the precocious young trotting colt Penn Noble Rocky from turning in a 1:57 mile to win the $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final for 2 year olds at the Meadowlands Wednesday night.

Bred by Louis Peachy of Pennsylvania, Penn Noble Rocky went through the Blooded Horse Sale in Delaware, Ohio, and was sold for just $4,700. Trainer Kevin Lare’s Harness The Power Stable and the North State Street Stable, all of the state of Delaware, now own the colt by Enjoy Lavec out of Nan Can, a half sister to Breeders Crown and Hambletonian Oaks winner Nan's Catch, who produced the great international star Moni Maker.

John Campbell sent Penn Noble Rocky to the lead at the outset and the colt took command before the first quarter was reached and never faltered in the mile. Strive For Perfect and trainer-driver Ray Remmen launched a first-over bid, but couldn’t overtake the pacesetter and settled for third.
