Foundation work for the new grandstand at the Meadowlands Racetrack is underway. Pile installation is on schedule to be finished this week, with concrete work to follow. The 155,000 square-foot building is expected to be completed by 2014. The new grandstand is the integral part of track operator Jeff Gural's plan to reinvigorate racing at the Meadowlands.Live attendance and wagering at the track were up in 2012, its first season under the private management of Gural's New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC. Live harness racing will resume at the Meadowlands the weekend of Dec. 28-29. (Meadowlands)
