Corleone debuts Monday

Corleone Kosmos, a winner of $217,293 in 2006 with third-place performances in the $800,000 Breeders Crown Open Trot and the $200,000 Titan Cup, makes his 5-year-old debut in the $10,000 Isle Mile I Trot at Pompano Park on Monday.

Owned by Arthur Rudolph, Rudolph Stables Inc. and Bernard Owen, Corleone Kosmos has not made a pari-mutuel start since closing out his 4-year old season on Sept. 2, 2006, when he made a break as the 4-5 favorite in a $49,500 elimination for the Maple Leaf Trot at Mohawk.

The son of S J’s Photo has qualified twice over the Pompano Park oval this year, winning a morning heat on March 23 in 1:57.1 before returning on April 6 to prevail in 1:55.3.

Corleone Kosmos has been installed as the 7-5 morning line favorite for the Monday feature and will be driven from post five by trainer Tom Haughton.

Michael Polansky’s Battleshoe Victor, a winner in three of his last five starts and the runner-up in this year’s $77,800 Mack Lobell Trotting Series final, will look to spoil the seasonal debut of Corleone Kosmos when starting from post one in Monday’s Isle Mile I Trot.

Trained by Tom Harmer, the 5-year-old Illinois-bred son of Valley Victor matched his seasonal mark of 1:55.4 when scoring by 2 ¼ lengths on April 9 in a race where the gelding was never challenged en route to a front-end victory.

Listed at 8-5 in the morning line, Battleshoe Victor will be driven by Bruce Ranger.

Railee Possible, a Florida-bred son of Anythings Possible, enters the Monday feature off a second-place performance at Pompano where he chased home Battleshoe Victor. Owned by Frank and Inge Smith, Railee Possible was a strong winner two starts ago when prevailing by 1 ½ lengths while stopping the timer in 1:55.3.
